Description
Becoming the Light is where the series finds its breath.
Every painting before this one carried weight, the weight of what was approaching, what collapsed, what dissolved, what could not yet reorganize itself. I lived inside that weight while painting them. It was necessary. You cannot arrive somewhere without having left. This painting came differently. The marks moved without resistance. The blues did not want to be dense.
The surface did not want to hold tension. Something in the work had already decided, before I did, that this was where the light was going to come.
I did not plan for this to be the final painting. But when I stood in front of it, I understood that the series was complete.
Becoming the light is not about having arrived. It is about the moment you realize that the becoming itself was the point. That you were never moving toward light from somewhere else. You were always, already, in the process of becoming it.
